Diyanet on Dec. 10 called on all Muslims to pray for rain as the country faces drought due to the lack of rain that caused water levels in dams to decrease to concerning levels.
The country has also been seeing an unusually warm fall and winter, prompting authorities to urge people to consume less water.
Thousands of people prayed for rain following Friday prayers in 81 provinces on Dec. 11, with imams talking about the importance of water during their sermons.
"No one can bring back our water except our God. What we need to do is to be thankful when there are millions of people longing for a drop of fresh water. Thank God for making us eat, giving us water, fulfilling our needs and sheltering us!" read the sermon.
