The national temperature average for August rose from 24.5 degrees Celsius to 26 in 2021, and data showed extreme heat on the southern coasts and northwest regions.
The average in the northeast region spiked from 23.9 degrees to 25.9 degrees, while the Aegean average rose from 25.8 degrees to 28 degrees Celsius.
The Mediterranean region observed a 1.9-degree spike in their average to reach 28.8 degrees Celsius.
