Turkey on Oct. 29 marked the 101st anniversary of Republic Day, signifying the official foundation of the Turkish Republic.
Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, alongside government officials and party leaders, visited Anıtkabir, the resting place of the republic's founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
"The spirit of unity and solidarity that enabled the national struggle to be crowned with the foundation of the Republic guides us in this process and illuminates our path like a beacon. Under the leadership of confident and competent cadres, the Republic of Turkey continues its glorious journey from the past to the future in a much more determined manner than ever before," Erdoğan wrote in Anıtkabır's diary.
Meanwhile, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül and Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu joined a parade in Istanbul.
