Turkey seizes one ton of cocaine at southern Mersin port
Turkish authorities have announced that they have seized one ton of cocaine in a Liberia flagged ship at the southern Mersin port. The drugs were hidden in a banana container, they said.
Duvar English - Turkish authorities on June 16 announced that they seized one ton of cocaine in a ship coming from Ecuador at the southern port of Mersin.
The drugs were hidden in a banana container in the Liberia flagged ship, Mersin Governor's Office said of the operation carried out by customs teams.
Trade Minister Mehmet Muş commented on the drug bust, saying that it's the biggest carried out in Turkey, while also congratulating the teams.
There were 1,000 packages in the said banana container and an investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
