Due to the widespread snowfall affecting Turkey, disruptions in transportation and education occurred, leading to a one-day break in education on Nov. 26 in at least 24 provinces and districts.

Many roads in several provinces were closed due to snow and blizzards. Due to the heavy snowfall, especially in the northern, central, and eastern regions, life in rural areas came to a standstill.

While two shepherds lost their lives in Mersin and Malatya provinces, many others trapped while herding. Some 350 sheep and two donkeys froze to death in central Karaman province.

In some provinces, the snow accumulation reached levels that completely blocked the roads.

As snow turned into blizzards, people caught on the roads and in the highlands were rescued by teams. In Ordu from the Black Sea region, four hunters were rescued two days later after being trapped in the snow.

The Malatya Governor's Office announced that 787 people who were stranded on the roads and rescued were accommodated in guesthouses.

In Giresun province, five individuals stranded in their vehicles due to heavy snow were rescued by municipal teams. In Bolu province, 18 people stranded in the highlands were also rescued.

Meanwhile, in Kayseri, a woman who became stranded on the road while trying to reach the hospital for childbirth due to blizzard gave birth in a military vehicle that came to her aid.

The Turkish State Meteorological Service on Nov. 26 issued a yellow alert, indicating potential danger, for many provinces in the central region of the country.
