Turkey's Health Ministry will take one-percent value-added tax (VAT) from COVID-19 vaccines until the end of the year 2021, the Official Gazette reported on Dec. 23.
A presidential decree in the Official Gazette ruled that all vaccines sold before the end of 2021 would be taxed at a mere one percent, although medical products have been taxed at eight percent in Turkey since 2004.
Meanwhile, many medical professionals have urged Ankara to provide vaccinations free of cost to the public, as the COVID-19 pandemic has strained the public financially as well.
