As education costs in Turkey have been continuing to rise, annual tuition fees for foundation universities and private high schools have surpassed one million Turkish liras ($30,430) for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Universities
After the university entrance exam results were announced, millions of students will make their university selections between July 25 and Aug. 2. Foundation university fees, which do not include meal, dormitory, or transportation costs, have seen massive increases ranging from 100 to 300 percent.
Koç University
Istanbul’s Koç University, one of the highest-ranking universities in the country, has set its fees for new students for the 2024-2025 academic year at 1.075 million liras for programs other than the medicine. Last year, the fees were announced at 530,000 lira, resulting in a 103% increase within a year.
Sabancı University
Sabancı University, another high-ranking university located in Istanbul, announced a 115% increase in fees for all undergraduate programs and preparatory language courses for new entrants, setting the cost at 1.1 million lira.
