Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has told members of the party's Central Executive Board (MYK) to get ready for snap polls, the daily Cumhuriyet reported on Aug. 26.
"All of our organizations should be ready in case snap polls take place," Kılıçdaroğlu reportedly said at the MYK meeting on Aug. 25.
"We will govern Turkey in the next period. Make your preparations accordingly," he noted.
Kılıçdaroğlu has been calling on President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to hold early elections for months, mainly due to the plummeting votes of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP). Erdoğan and his party members have been dismissing the call.
The elections are scheduled to be held in June 2023.
"There will be no houses that are abandoned. The CHP will be with all of them. No children will go to bed hungry," Kılıçdaroğlu said at the meeting.
He also gave orders to his party members on how they will prepare for the snap polls.
"All mayors and provincial chairs will work towards this goal and prepare reports. They will share their works with the public," the main opposition chair noted.
