Turkish opposition CHP municipal council member shot in face, severely injured

A municipal council member of the Turkish main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), Mustafa Can Ekiciler, was severely injured after being shot in the face in a quarrel, according to reporting by Demirören News Agency (DHA).
Ekiciler is a CHP council member of Tekirdağ’s Süleymanpaşa Municipality.
Accordingly, the incident took place in a gas station in Tekirdağ province early on Aug. 19.
A quarrel broke out for unknown reasons between him and a group of three people in the gas station.
The three people escaped from the scene after one of them shot Ekiciler in the face.
The authorities detained three people while Ekiciler is still in a life-threatening condition.
