Turkish police bust private homes for cannabis plants in 59 provinces
Turkish police raided multiple private residences in a multi-provincial operation on May 25 where dozens of homegrown cannabis plants were confiscated. The raid comes shortly after claims by organized crime leader Sedat Peker that Ankara was in fact an accomplice in mass international cocaine trade.
Turkish police raided hundreds of residences in 59 different provinces on May 25, confiscating dozens of cannabis plants.
Some 630 addresses were raided by police, with arrest warrants out for 574 suspects, although the number of detentions was not made public.
The police operation comes shortly after organized crime leader Sedat Peker made claims that the Turkish government was informed of and accomplice to mass international cocaine trade.
Meanwhile, Turkish police employed 1,213 squads, 3,644 officers and 113 narcotic dogs for the homegrown cannabis operation.
