Turkish police have filed a criminal complaint against Turkish Medical Association (TTB) chair Şebnem Korur Fincancı for appearing on a YouTube program hosted by a journalist accused by Ankara of being a member of the Gülen network, referred to as the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) by the Turkish government.
The complaint was launched against Korur Fincancı by the Security General Directorate’s anti-terrorism department for appearing as a guest on the program hosted by Erkam Tufan Aytav, who is sought by the police, on March 15.
“A complaint has been filed with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against Turkish Medical Association chair Şebnem Korur Fincancı for attending the program hosted by fugitive FETÖ member Erkam Tufan Aytav, who has several wanted records, on a YouTube channel on March 15, 2022,” the anti-terrorism department said on Twitter on March 17.
Korur Fincancı criticized mainstream media for the news report on the complaint against her and said she was never requested comments by them and that the broadcasters ignored all protests held by the TTB.
