Turkey’s Supreme Election Council (YSK) has drawn the positions for ballot paper order for the upcoming local elections. The ruling AKP has taken the first position, whereas the main opposition CHP will appear on the 18th position among 35 parties.

Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) has secured the first position on the ballot paper for the local elections to be held on March 31, 2024.
Turkey’s Supreme Election Council (YSK) on Jan. 27 drew the positions of parties on ballot paper order for the upcoming local elections.
YSK President Ahmet Yener said 35 political parties were qualified to participate in the elections.
The ruling AKP took the first spot, whereas its ally Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) will appear on the 31st position among 35 parties.
The main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) will appear on the 18th position, the opposition İYİ (Good) Party on the second, and the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party on the 9th.
In the 2019 local elections, the AKP garnered 42.72 percent of the votes, followed by the CHP which remained at 28.57 percent.
