The first group of tourists from the United Kingdom arrived in Turkey's vacation destinations on Sept. 23 after London removed the country from their COVID-19 red list that mandated travelers to quarantine after their trips.
A large group of 90 passengers arrived in the Mediterranean province Antalya around 9.15 p.m. after four months of travel restrictions, and a total of 500 travelers were predicted to land before midnight.
Passengers were put through thermal cameras to check their body temperatures, and were in compliance with Turkey's mask mandate during their trip.
English Virginia Whitehead said that she was very pleased with the welcome she received, adding that she finds the Turkish people to be very warm and hospitable.
"I come for a cultural trip and the food. I was here last year as well, I'm so glad Turkey was removed from the red list," said Janice Shuttlewood.
Turkey has been accepting travelers from around the globe since the start of the summer season, and Antalya remains one of the primary destinations for both domestic and international tourists.
