Shouting "Killer Putin" slogans and holding "No to war" and "Stop the war" banners, the protestors called for the war to be stopped as soon as possible.
While the police took extensive security measures, some Ukrainians burst into tears.
A demonstrator said, "Enough, everything is being destroyed. Everywhere is being bombed. This is not just a war between Russia and Ukraine, it is a whole world war."
“We have gathered here to stop World War III. The war has begun. Putin attacks, Putin kills. Why is everyone silent? We have gathered to support our nation,” she said.
Another demonstrator likened Putin to Hitler and called for help.
“Everyone is on the side of Ukraine, but still, if the Russian people don't help us, if they don't stand up against their president, if the world is silent, we will hardly stand up to Russia,” she said.
Another protestor called for the attacks to be stopped and said, “It was done to Ukraine today, it will be done to Turkey tomorrow or to another country. That's why we call out to everyone, the people, the world.”
