Workers around Turkey celebrate May Day
As workers in Istanbul confronted severe police brutality while attempting to mark Workers' Day, their counterparts across Turkey gathered to raise their voices for better working conditions, fair wages, and the right to form unions.

Despite Turkish government's attempts to prevent May Day celebrations in country's biggest city Istanbul, workers around Turkey gathered in order to celebrate International Workers' Day.

ISTANBUL
After government's intense lockdown in Istanbul, the police attacked workers who gathered in Fatih, Beşiktaş, and Şişli districts in order to march to megacity's historic Taksim Square. Police detained at least 210 protesters around the province.
ANKARA
The May Day celebrations in the capital Ankara with the participation of many labor unions, political parties, and associations were held despite heavy rain.
