A Turkish youth was temporarily detained on May 26 after making a heart shape during Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu’s visit to Istanbul’s Üsküdar district.
The heart shape has become an emblem of the election campaign of the opposition Nation Alliance’s presidential candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.
The main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) lawyer Onur Cingil shared the moments of the youth’s detention on his Twitter account.
The woman who shot the video was heard saying "He didn't do anything, he just made a heart sign."
Cingil later said that the youth was released in the following hours.
Bugün İç İşleri Bakanı Süleyman Soylu'nun #Üsküdar 'daki "gezi"sinde bu genç yurttaş SADECE KALP İŞARETİ YAPTIĞI için böyle yaka paça alınıyor.
