In this week's episode of Zeitgeist Turkey, Duvar English Editor-in-chief Cansu Çamlıbel and pollster Can Selçuki take a break from Ankara's busy political agenda to turn to the streets for a special audio episode about the Istanbul women's rally on Nov. 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The most pressing issue on the minds of women in Turkey is undoubtedly the country's systemic impunity of violent crimes against the sex, with an average of 25 femicides taking place every month since the start of 2020.

While a portion within Turkey's judiciary remains reluctant to prosecute assailants, legal protective measures aren't always enough to protect women either.
